But I'm a big believer in karma, so my opinion is probably pretty clear. You reap what you sow. All other things aside, I really hope he can find something soon. I'd hate to see him in the 41, and I think they are already in negotiations for Bobby Labonte, so I guess I have to hope for the 43 car for now. I don't think this is the end of the craziness though, and who knows what ride may open up. The 19 wasn't available, but GEM made it happen because they wanted AJ that badly. Casey's wasn't supposed to be open either, but that happened as well. Maybe someone will make room for him - especially since Elliott is a sponsor's dream.

I think what shocked and suprised me was how this all came out. We get the announcement from the replacement driver? Wha? "I'm AJ and I'm taking Elliott's ride." Wha? That's like a new NFL head coach announcing that he's replacing the current head coach rather than the team owner doing it. Classless. And that's what happend here. Low class treatment. Now the fact of the matter is that my darling Elliott didn't perform. We, as his fans, can come up with a zillion reasons why, but he didn't. Rolling around in the middle or back of the field for FOUR YEARS you guys?? FOUR YEARS?? He's cute, but he ain't that cute. He hasn't contended for a win since what? 2005's or 2006's (doesn't count in the points) Allstar race? Maybe there have been a time or two when he was up front. But be honest, we knew he wasn't gonna close the deal. We were hoping the move to Evernham would turn into something, but that organization started to struggle (for reasons that had nothing to do with Elliott). It's just a perfect storm of crap. He's out of a ride and on a list with a bunch of field fillers: Raines, Riggs, Ragan, and admit it...La Bonte. Who's gonna move heaven and earth to get these guys? La Bonte might get some sentimental consideration, but times are tough. Teams may not be able to field as many cars as they did last year. Sponsors are decreasing their commitments. It goes on... Karma? Maybe, but not cuz of what was said to Allmendinger. What kind a wuss sport would this be if there can't be some trash talk? Who I really think is smiling from earlobe to earlobe is Jeremy Mayfield. He's prolly saying "how ya like them apples? Sux don't it?! Hey come over...we can watch the races together in my den. He's a past champ and has that lovely provisional. I know that Tony has the most recent one, but my feelings are that Chevy is so happy he's back with them that they are going to give him everything he needs out of the gate. As for Elliott taking the 43....as a huge Bobby fan who was glued to the scanner the entire season, let me just say this - things are in turmoil over at Petty. And not from the Pettys, but from the Boston Venture side. Those guys, tried (if they really did try) as they might, to run a race team but knew absolutely nothing about it. They brought in their own CEO to run Petty when they should have hired from within the NASCAR ranks somebody who has that background and understands the nature of the beast. Other speculation is that BV only wanted the Richard Petty Driving Experience and planned all along to shuffle Petty Enterprises off at some point and the economy is just giving them a good excuse to do it sooner. There was supposed to be an influx of cash after the sale and instead of the cars getting better they simply got worse. They were unloading crap from the get go and Bobby did a great job finishing his races where he could with the equipment he got. If I were Elliott, I would be wary of taking the 43 ride if it's still part of Boston Venture-owned Petty Enterprises. And he may very well be offered the 43 if they think he can bring Stanley & Best Buy along with him. There is a rumor out there that Richard is working hard to get Petty back. Maybe so, maybe not, who can say this silly season. But there are other rumors too that BV has moved the planes and haulers. Asset sale? Who knows. Chaos, panic, and disorder - my work here is done!

Speaking of NasKARMA, seems there is plenty of bad to go around! George Gillette ain't doin' so well either: From Jayski: *UPDATE 2:* Sadler signed a two-year contract extension with GEM in May, and sources say team owner George Gillett will now be forced to buy out those additional two years. Sadler has already begun making calls to try and find a ride for next season. Sources tell Sirius Speedway that Gillett is heavily leveraged from the original Evernham buyout, as well as from a number of automobile dealerships he purchased earlier this year. He reportedly faces a major payment on his Liverpool Football Club, which plays in the English Premier League, as well. A deal that would have merged GEM with Bill Davis Racing fell by the wayside a few weeks ago, reportedly after Gillett was unable to obtain financing to complete the transaction. Gillett has recently been involved in negotiations to merge GEM with Petty Enterprises. Sirius Speedway reported two weeks ago that the merger had stalled, and while that report was immediately denied by a GEM spokesman, Sadler's release appears to indicate that the deal is indeed in jeopardy. A combined GEM/Petty operation was expected to field four cars in 2009; enough to retain Kasey Kahne, Reed Sorenson, Sadler and Allmendinger. I also read that Ray cleaned out his office at GErM and there are rumors that several sponsors may leave and go with Elliott. There is so much mess going on with many, many teams at NASCAR, we'll have to wait and see what happens for Elliott. At any rate, good luck to Elliott! However, if you've been close to a computer in the past few hours you've seen the reports that the Petty/GEM merger is a done deal. Reed Sorenson will be driving the 43 (Air Force is sponsor) and not the 10. So we can't figure out if they will only field 3 cars instead of 4 or what. There is speculation that the team will change names, most likely to have Richard Petty's name in there somewhere. Also the Zucker who was brought on by Boston Ventures as CEO of Petty Enterprises is no longer CEO of the race team, but of the Driving Experience. Which sort of makes me feel I was right about that - BV really only wanted the RPDE but had to take the entire operation. But I digress....if the 10 is going to be fielded in 2009 that could mean Elliott could be back on the team, especially if the DEI/Ganassi rumors of Bobby taking the 41 Target car are true. (BTW...we've nicknamed DEI/G as Chip 'n Dale Racing. LOL) We really never know what has been discussed behind closed doors. It could be Elliott in the 41 and Bobby in the 10. Silly season much. But if I wewre him, they couldn't pay me enough to stay after trying to screw me over.
